BOOKINGS
When booking a taxi with GL Taxis Taunton, we will require you to provide your name, the pick-up & drop off address, contact number and e-mail address. If we do not have these details, we cannot provide you with the excellent service that we pride ourselves in giving. We only share some of these details with your driver, ie. Names, pick up and destination address and contact number. (Please see our Privacy Policy on how we handle your data).
GL Taxis Taunton does not accept any responsibility of bookings that are placed via our website, App, Phone or any other means that are not correct or incomplete.
GL Taxis Taunton will not accept any liability for loss of money or if missing a connection to another means of public transport or flight or transfer that is out of our control i.e traffic congestion, sudden road closures or diversions, to which, the driver has been instructed to take under local authorities (Police/Highways/council), Adverse Weather conditions.
The person/persons booking must make sure that they leave adequate time to allow them to catch their plain/boat/train/coach/etc connection.
We cannot guarantee the exact travel time of the transfer. All data regarding travel times are just an estimate.
If booking is made in error or your booking has an error, it is down to you, the customer, to inform GL Taxis Taunton as soon as possible to either cancel, or edit the booking otherwise you will be charged in full for the booking.
Any journey outside of Taunton must be paid for in advance of the said journey.
Any booking made via the App or website must be paid for in advance or a Taxi will not be sent to you.
TRAVELLING
When travelling in one our taxis, we ask you to conduct yourself in a manner that you would expect other to behave towards you. Any anti-social behaviour or your conduct becoming unacceptable in any way will not be tolerated and the person/people will be ask to vacate the vehicle, if the person/people do not comply with this, the driver has the right to call the Police to have you removed from the vehicle.
Any driver driving for GL Taxis Taunton has the right to refuse any person/people travelling, if they feel that they may be putting themselves, the vehicle, other passengers and/or the general public at risk or are in immediate danger.
Customers under the influence of alcohol, drugs or other controlled substances will not be allowed to enter a vehicle and will not be entitled to a refund of any amount paid.
GL Taxis Taunton do not accept any responsibility if a wrong destination drop off happens. It is the full responsibility of the passenger/carer to make sure the destination they are at is the correct one. Our drivers can only advise and try to help to the best of the their ability.
Customers whose behaviour endangers the safety of the driver, other passengers or other participants at any point will be removed from the vehicle and reported to the Police. They will not be entitled to a refund of any amount paid.
Any person/people that cause damage to the vehicle or any property belonging to GL Taxis Taunton that is not the fault of our driver will be required to pay for the repair of the damaged part or replacement of the part if it cannot be repaired. This will be for the full amount of the item(s) that need to be repaired or replaced. Should you refuse to pay then we will have no alternative but to seek a prosecution which could lead to that person/people having to pay anyway as well as possibly having to pay a fine and getting a criminal record.
If a person/people soils the vehicle in any way then a £100 soiling charge will be applied, in accordance with the Somerset West & Taunton Council’s fare prices. Should you refuse to pay then we will have no alternative but to seek a prosecution which could lead to that person/people having to pay anyway, having to pay and fine and a criminal record.
It is illegal to smoke or use any form of tobacco products, including cigarettes and electronic cigarettes (e-cigarettes), in taxis and private hire vehicles in the UK. Should you attempt to smoke and/or use an e-cigarette in the vehicle at any time, you will be removed from the vehicle, reported to the authorities and will not be entitled to a refund.
Attempting to get into our vehicle while consuming or starting to consume food & drink items, alcohol and/or drugs in the vehicle is strictly prohibited. Exceptions to this policy are water and soft drinks in plastic bottles. The driver can override this at their sole discretion only however the soiling rule above still applies.
If you have luggage with you, GL Taxis Taunton will not accept any responsibility for any luggage that is lost or damaged. All luggage is carried entirely at your own risk.
We allocate 1 average sized suitcase per passenger. If you need to being more than one and/or larger than average sized luggage, you must inform us either before or during the booking. This is mostly to ensure that the vehicle can cater to the space and/or weight required.
GL Taxis Drivers will always help assist with the loading of luggage as best they can. However, it is down to the driver to deem whether they are medically fit enough to be able to assist in loading or unloading your luggage. If any kind of luggage is deemed to be too heavy for the driver, the driver has every right to refuse to load it and must be loaded by the passenger(s).
We will NOT under any circumstances transport ANY Power vehicles Including but not limited to battery operated scooters, “Hoverboards”, skateboards, etc. This is mostly due to the fire risk of these devices.
You MUST NOT use this website:
- for any unlawful purpose
- to send spam
- to harm, threaten, abuse or harass in any shape or form, another person/persons, or in a way that invades someone’s privacy or is (in our reasonable opinion) offensive or is unacceptable or damaging to GL Taxis Taunton, our customers or suppliers;
- Create, check, confirm, update or amend your own or someone else’s databases, records, directories, customer lists.
- Tamper with or update, change any part of the website in any way that changes the site without prior written permission from the owner or Senior Staff of GL Taxis Taunton. Any changes will be seen as an act of hacking or cause to damage the company’s reputation we will seek prosecution,
- Any other illegal activity not listed here.
Please note:
Our drivers will travel by the most appropriate route on the day of your journey unless instructed otherwise by you.
Cancellations and refunds:
No refunds will be given if a booking is cancelled within 3 hours of the booked collection time. Depending on whether the taxi has already left for pick up we will cap the full fare charge at £30.
No refund will be given if you do not turn up for a booked taxi with in 5 minutes of the driver turning up and you will be charge for the full journey and the driver will be entitled to leave cancelling the booking and flag it on our system.
No refund will be given if any passenger/person/persons seeks alternative travel before or after the driver has been dispatched or has turned up.
When cancelling an email from our bookings email address will be sent confirming the booking has been cancelled, if you do not receive an email from bookings@gltaxistaunton.co.uk within 1 hour of informing GL Taxis Taunton, it is your responsibility to check that it has been cancelled.
We reserve the right to cancel any booking at any time, if it is deemed reasonable i.e Weather conditions, sickness, or vehicle faults/breakdowns.
If a refund has been agreed, we will not refund the 1.75% surcharge fee on card payments, as this is not refunded to ourselves.
The amount of the refund may vary, depending on whether you have started the journey and will be pro-rata’d on the distance you have travelled.
